School Overview

Our motto here at Worthington Elementary Dual Immersion School is: “A positive attitude changes everything.” This statement is so important to us because we have seen the real life benefits of keeping a positive attitude through our students and staff.

It is with this attitude that all parts of the Worthington Elementary family work together to make our school all that it is—a high-achieving, caring, and stimulating educational environment where children can develop to their highest potential.

Worthington students continue to perform well on state tests year after year. Our students have earned an Academic Performance Index (API) score of 723 points, out of 800 possible.

This score was high enough to make Worthington rank 10 out of 10 among similar schools statewide.

The following year our students again met and surpassed their API growth target—achieving an impressive score of 730.

What We Offer

Worthington Elementary’s dual immersion program offers a variety of academic and tutoring programs and resources to help all members of our student body excel. Our programs benefit both native English speakers and native Spanish speakers become bilingual. Students who are learning English as a second language benefit from English Language Development programs that we offer.

In addition to the regular curriculum, the Waterford Early Reading Lab helps students master reading at an early age using technology, specifically helping to make sure our youngest learners are prepared and confident entering the kindergarten classroom.

All students visit the computer lab regularly to develop valuable technology skills that will benefit them not only during their time here, but in their future academic careers as well. Homework is assigned daily so that students have an opportunity to practice and review skills learned in the classroom, so they aren’t just memorizing facts but retaining information.

Other programs and activities available to Worthington students include:

  • Reading incentive program
  • Field trips

Students who have good attendance and academic achievements are also recognized and rewarded.

Our Community

Community involvement is a major priority at Worthington Elementary School. We strive to create an environment where parents and family members play an important role in their children’s education through monthly parent meetings and classes as well as school leadership committees.

Worthington Elementary has many parents who volunteer on campus on a regular basis. Having such a strong community makes us even more excited about the future of our school. Every year we continue to get stronger as a community and campus.

Our list of extracurriculars and after-school programs keeps growing and improving which makes our students not only excited to come to school each morning, but also to stay on our campus after the final bell rings as well. The more time our students spend here at Worthington, the more we know they are safe and are participating in enriching activities that will bring happiness to their lives for years to come.

We are here to help our students discover new talents and interests they might not have been exposed to if it weren’t for our school.
