Our Focus

Our main focus at W. Claude Elementary School is academics. This is shown by the various awards and accomplishments we have received over the years.

Our school has been honored by being named a California Distinguished School. Hudnall has a continuing commitment to keep high academic achievement for all students one of our school’s main priorities.

Another accomplishment worth mentioning is that our students earned an Academic Performance Index score of 763. Scoring 800 is considered exceptional so this is something to be very proud of.

Our faculty and staff do such an amazing job on helping and supporting non-English speakers that we have also been asked to be part of a study on the best way to educate this population.

Peer Mediators, Student Council, Safety Patrol, tutoring services, enrichment classes, Fun Club, and Family Literacy are all opportunities we offer our students. Hudnall families support our school by being active with advisory committees and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

We proudly rank 10 out of 10 among similar schools across California.

School Highlights

Some of the highlights that make our school exceptional include the variety of extra programs we offer our students and families.

Computer classes are an exciting option for students because of how vital they are the their future academic experiences.

There is also the Jump Start preschool program that provides the reading skills necessary to get our youngest learners ready for kindergarten with reading skills, powered by the technology-based Waterford Early Reading Program to improve literacy.

Hudnall parents and community members support the school as part of advisory committees and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). For families who are learning English, there is English tutoring, Latino Literacy, and an English Learners advisory committee.

In fact, Hudnall staff does such an outstanding job educating English learners that the California Department of Education has asked the school to take part in a study on the best ways to educate non-English speakers.

We are very proud of all the accomplishments our school has already achieved, and excited to see what the future of our faculty and students holds.
