Inglewood High School

The Law and Game Simulation Pathway

School Overview

Located in the heart of downtown Inglewood, Inglewood High School offers students a comprehensive college-preparatory program, academic and social support, and a wealth of activities. IHS is a Law and Game Simulation Pathway school. Being founded in 1905, we are very proud of having such deep roots in our community, and committed to seeing our students succeed both during their time here, and also after they graduate.

The curriculum is robust, and it features Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and A-G courses. There is a high value to all of these courses because they are required for entrance into the California State University and University of California systems.

Inglewood is ranked #5 in all of LA County for the number of A-G courses offered. Ten different Advanced Placement (AP) subjects are offered. Inglewood High is a certified AVID school, offering the statewide program designed to prepare students for college success.

Athletics and Activities

For many students, participating in, or regularly attending sporting events is part of what defines their entire high school experience.

Inglewood High School provides opportunities for both boys and girls of all grade levels to compete in interscholastic athletics. Inglewood High is a member of the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section (CIF-SS) and the South Bay Athletic Association.

Sports offerings include: basketball, football, baseball, softball, track and field, cross country, soccer, volleyball, cheerleading, drill team, step team, and tennis.

Many of our sports are offered to both boys and girls, and there are also a lot of opportunities for freshmen to participate.

Being part of a sports’ team isn’t for everyone, so we make sure to offer enough variety of activities so everyone has a chance to participate is something they are passionate about.

IHS also boasts an award-winning marching band and classical music program. Clubs include Earth Club, Associated Student Body, MEChA, Black Student Union, yearbook, and JROTC, to name a few.

Academic Programs

Our students receive support through College Summit, which provides college visits and assistance with college and financial aid applications.

Inglewood High School students have made major gains on state tests, raising the school’s Academic Performance Index score by an impressive 38 points. For struggling students, we offer academic intervention classes and California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) preparation courses.

Our goal is to see all of our students find academic success with us, and reach the goals they have set for themselves for the future as well.

Inglewood High School offers a variety of programs including free after-school tutoring, Gifted and Talented Education, SCROC career classes, College preparation, UCLA’s tutoring/advisement program, internships with Northrop Grunman, English Language Development, and counseling, to name a few.
